Carolina Gas Transmission - Why Work with CGT?
Why Work with CGT?
When it comes to the interstate transport of natural gas, companies choose to work with Carolina Gas Transmission (CGT) because of:

Our Heritage
CGT was formed from the merger of two SCANA subsidiaries: SC Pipeline and SCG Pipeline. SC Pipeline pioneered the expansion of safe, cost-effective natural gas service into much of South Carolina beginning in the 1950s. That half-century of expertise makes us ideally suited to expand our system to meet the growing demand in South Carolina and surrounding regions.

SCG Pipeline's interstate pipeline, traveling from Georgia to South Carolina, underwent an extensive federal review process. It was built with the highest standards for workplace safety, and to comply with strenuous construction requirements of federal, state, and local governments. Those standards continue to be at the heart of CGT's transportation services.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of SCANA Corporation, we also have the backing of a company with 160 years of bringing energy to the Southeast. It shows in all aspects of what we do, from our respect for the environment to the advances we continue to make to ensure the safe transport of natural gas.

Our Network
Today we maintain a transmission system that delivers natural gas to large-volume users (distribution and industrial companies). We provide our customers with access to diverse supply sources through pipeline interconnections with Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line (Transco), a 6 BCF per day pipeline, and Southern Natural Gas, a 3 BCF per day pipeline.

CGT is also connected to a growing source of regional supply via its connection with the Southern LNG Importation Terminal located at Elba Island near Savannah, Georgia. With plans to expand, the Elba Island facility will increase the daily supply output from Elba to over 2 BCF as early as 2010.

Our Safety Commitment
At CGT, we continue to follow stringent pipeline inspection processes to comply with federal mandates, including the 2002 Pipeline Safety Improvement Act. Learn more about our commitment to public safety.
